What is a database?
My instructors keep using that word...
Answer
Excellent question! Databases are the preferred way to store things on the internet. Their job is to make stuff easy to find. What do I mean "things" and "stuff"? I mean whatever it is you're looking to find. You use databases all the time, whether you know it or not. Amazon, Temu, eBay, Etsy- they run on databases filled with products you can buy. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime- their databases are full of movies and shows to watch. When you search for that new shirt or that new series, you are searching a database.
Different databases have different kinds of things. In libraries, they tend to keep books and research articles. Some also have newspaper articles, data from experiments, or video clips. We have guides and walk-through videos to help you navigate our library's databases, as well as a guide to all the databases we subscribe to.
