How do I find a book in the library?

Answer

Our Library uses the Dewey Decimal System to keep track of its books. You may have seen this at your high school or public library. The books are grouped by subjects, so that books with similar subjects will be found near each other. Each subject has a number, between 001 and 999.99999. This number is marked on the book's spine, or on the front cover if the book is too thin to fit the sticker on. These are the books' call numbers. So books on, say, fairytales will have 398.2 on their spines, and books about eating disorders will have 616.85 on theirs. The numbers are shelved in order, and each row of shelves has a sign on the side that tells you which numbers are in that row. You can find a book's call number by looking it up in our OneSearch search bar [Website]. You can search by title, author, or subject. And if you'd like a hand, we are here to help. Just come see us at the desk up front.
